The same Acceptable Use Policy for the Library's public computers apply to wireless access, except there is no time limit. Using the network at RGC Public Library is a privilege and no warranties or guarantees are implied with Internet access.

The Public Library Network is a shared resource. Using excessive bandwidth for extended periods of time and/or inhibiting other patrons' use of the network may result in termination of network services. This includes periods of time and/or inhibiting other patrons' from using our electrical outlets or creating an unsafe condition.

Digital reproduction and distribution of copyrighted materials is against federal law. Anyone found downloading and or distributing such material (copyrighted music, digitized video from copyrighted motion pictures, copyrighted software, etc.) is subject to termination of network services.

Forgery or other misrepresentation of one's identity via email or any other form of communication is a violation this policy. This includes forging of IP addresses or Ethernet adapter addresses to conceal your computer's identity. The Library complies with the federal Children’s Internet Protection Act (CIPA) which requires the use of filtering software for adults, teens, and children.

Printing is not possible from the laptops. If you need to print a document, you may save it to a flash drive or CD and bring it to the Circulation Desk for printing by library staff, or you may sign into the public access computers and print your document from one of those computers.

The City of Rio Grande City and the Public Library assume NO responsibility for costs associated with loss or damage to a patron’s data files personal laptop computer and its associated peripheral equipment.

Users must sign up at the front counter to use the wireless internet. Use of network resources is governed by the RGC Public Library and the Internet/Computer Use Policy adopted by the City of Rio Grande City.
