The mission of the Rio Grande City Public Library is to maintain and improve the quality of life for all citizens of our community by providing resources that enhance literacy, life-long learning and access to ideas. We especially recognize our responsibility to serve as a place for children to discover the joy of reading and the value of libraries. Highlights RGCPL has over 5,000 library card holders. We average 1000 visitors a month. Our circulation of library books, audio and visual items increased from 4,951 in 2008 to 12,384 in 2009. The Library Board of the City of Rio Grande City was created in 2008. The Library Board is charged with encouraging development of the public library and with recommending to City Council policies and programs for the advancement of the library. |
