The mission of the Rio Grande City Public Library is to maintain and improve the quality of life for all citizens of our community by providing resources that enhance literacy, life-long learning and access to ideas. We especially recognize our responsibility to serve as a place for children to discover the joy of reading and the value of libraries.

Highlights
RGCPL has over 10,000 library card holders. We average 4000 visitors a month. Our circulation of library books, audio and visual items increased from 4,951 in 2008 to over 19,000 in 2016.

Friends of the Library
The Friends of the Library was established over 25 years ago raises funds for special programs and projects. Programs such as the Summer Reading Program and other special events throughout the year. Friends also volunteer for library projects and promote public awareness of the library.
